Located on Galveston Island, 50 miles south of Houston at the mouth of the Houston Ship Canal, U.S. Coast Guard Marine Safety Unit Galveston serves Texas’ entire southeastern coastline.

Vigilantly safeguarding one of the nation’s busiest commercial ports, the members of Coast Guard MSU Galveston are frequently called upon to lead natural disasters relief and recovery efforts. This coin honors U.S. Coast Guard MSU Galveston, Texas and salutes all those who serve this installation. The obverse features MSU Galveston’s colorful emblem, which depicts an outline of the “Lone Star State” against the red, white, and blue backdrop. The reverse bears the official U.S. Coast Guard seal.

Struck in a brass alloy and gently brushed with an antique finish, this coin is imbued with enamel accents on both sides.

Each coin measures 1 3/4 inch (44mm) in diameter.
