The 270-foot Medium Endurance Cutter is one of the most technologically advanced ships in the world, fitted with a modern weapons and sensor suite and equipped with a state-of-the-art command, display, and control computerized ship control system that ensures maximum operational effectiveness. In addition, the cutter’s active stabilization system renders it a highly stable platform for the launch and recovery of Coast Guard helicopters during rough sea conditions, enabling the ship and her crew to perform a full range of law enforcement and search and rescue missions in every environment.
This coin pays tribute to the 270-foot Medium Endurance Cutter, one of the Coast Guard’s most important and versatile ships. The obverse features a detailed rendering of this high-powered ship. The reverse features an open area suitable for engraving a name or personal message.
