Description
Airmen Apprentices provide critical support to sustain the mission of the Coast Guard’s elite aviation units.
Rigorously applying their training to every task they undertake, these individuals are charged with repairing, maintaining, and stowing aircraft, performing ground and deck duties involved in aircraft launch and recovery, standing security watches, and serving as members of security alert teams. Tackling a full range of important duties, Airmen Apprentices are the foundation of the Coast Guard aerial fleet.
This coin pays tribute to all Airmen Apprentices, whose devotion to duty strengthens America’s security and ensures the success of the Coast Guard mission. Featured on the obverse is a rendering of the insignia worn by these individuals. Featured on the reverse is the official emblem of the U.S. Coast Guard.
