Description
Airmen provide critical support to sustain the combined military defense, law enforcement, and maritime safety mission of the U.S. Coast Guard.
Functioning as the foundation of the Coast Guard aviation command, they play a key role in enhancing its ability to perform coastal defense, search and rescue, disaster response, and maritime law enforcement operations. Airmen assist in the maintenance and repair of vital aircraft components, monitor the disbursement of flight gear, aid in communication and navigation duties, and ensure the safe launch and recovery of the Coast Guard’s highly specialized aircraft.
This coin salutes the skill and devotion to duty of all Coast Guard Airmen, whose courageous service strengthens the world’s elite maritime defense force. Featured on the obverse is a rendering of the insignia worn by these individuals. Featured on the reverse is the official emblem of the U.S. Coast Guard.
