This coin salutes the mission of the Colonial Branch of the U.S. Coast Guard Enlisted Association, an organization dedicated to serving crewmembers, their families, and the surrounding community. Founded in 1998, the Virginia-based Colonial Branch chapter operates under the guidance of the national Coast Guard Enlisted Association (CGEA). The CGEA was established in 1991 and is administered by the Chief Petty Officers Association as a way to foster the professional development and community involvement of enlisted Coast Guard sailors. The Colonial Branch of CGEA directly supports personnel serving Training Center Yorktown, the Coast Guard’s largest training command.
Minted in bronze antique and accented with enamel, the obverse of this coin features the emblem of the Coast Guard Enlisted Association. The reverse bears the official seal of Coast Guard Training Center Yorktown.
Each coin measures 1 3/4 inch (44mm) in diameter.
