Serving as a vital component of Coast Guard District 17, Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak is situated on the western shore of the small island of Kodiak, located just south of the mainland of Alaska.
Performing a wide range of search and rescue, environmental protection, law enforcement, and ice-breaking missions, Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak manages an area of responsibility that covers more than 100,000 nautical miles. The full-service station contains a number of supporting units, including Kodiak Air Station, which serves as the largest operational air field in Southern Alaska.
This coin salutes all those who serve Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak, Alaska. The obverse features this unit’s official emblem. The reverse bears the Coast Guard seal. Struck in a brass alloy and gently brushed with an antique finish, this coin is imbued with enamel accents on both sides.
