Description
Commissioned in 1970, Air Station Cape Cod has served as one of the most distinguished Coast Guard installations for more than three decades.
Though the primary mission of Air Station Cape Cod is search and rescue, the members of this unit also conduct law enforcement, aids to navigation, and environmental protection missions. As a component of Coast Guard District One, Air Station Cape Cod covers an area of responsibility that extends from New York City north to the Canadian border. Over the past several decades, Air Station Cape Cod has earned national and international acclaim for its many successful rescue operations.
This coin is dedicated to Air Station Cape Cod and all those who have served this installation. The obverse features the emblem of Air Station Cape Cod. The reverse bears the official Coast Guard seal. Struck in a brass alloy and brushed with an antique bronze finish, this coin is imbued with bold enamel highlights on both sides.
