Description

Located on the northwestern tip of the island of Puerto Rico, Air Station Borinquen provides vital search and recovery and logistics support to the U.S. Coast Guard.

Formerly Ramey Air Force Base, this installation was officially placed under Coast Guard command in July of 1976. Air Station Borinquen operates under the supervision of Commander, Sector San Juan and supports an area of responsibility that extends from the western end of Haiti to the mid-Atlantic and from approximately 300 miles southwest of Bermuda to the north coast of South America. Prosecuting hundreds of search and rescue operations every year, those who serve Air Station Borinquen are also called on to complete a wide range of law enforcement, marine environmental protection, and homeland security tasks.

This coin pays tribute to the distinguished heritage and service of Air Station Borinquen and salutes all those who help it achieve its mission.  Struck in shiny finish this coin is imbued with full color enamel highlights.

Each coin measures 1 3/4 inch (44mm) in diameter.
