The Coast Guard Achievement Medal honors any member of the United States or foreign Armed Forces, on active duty or inactive reserve, who distinguishes himself or herself by outstanding achievement or meritorious service. Awarded for outstanding achievement or meritorious service that does not meet the requirements of the Commendation Medal, this medal places emphasis on junior officers and enlisted personnel.
This coin is minted in the USA from solid bronze, using special deep-relief coining dies, and hand-finished with an antique patina for exceptional quality and detail. Die struck out of thicker blanks, this coin has a substantive feel to it as well. The obverse features the colors of the Coast Guard Achievement Medal ribbon, imbued with bold enamel, and depicts the medal’s distinctive braided border and ceremonial wreath. The reverse has space available for engraving. The coin comes packaged in a polybag with a header card.
