Founded in 1947, the Air National Guard has trained and equipped combat-ready pilots to support America’s air defense needs for more than fifty years.
As the official air defense interceptor component of the U.S. Military, it serves as a frontline force in preserving America’s national security. Fully prepared for prompt mobilization in times of war, Air National Guard pilots also carry out domestic search and recovery and disaster relief missions. Committed to defending America’s freedom at home and abroad, they are an indispensable element of America’s Air Force.
This coin salutes the dedication of the members of the Air National Guard, who exhibit superior skill and uncommon courage in the exercise of their duties. The obverse features the shield of the Air National Guard. Bordered by a classic wreath design, the reverse contains a space for engraving.
This coin contains an antique bronze finish. Each coin comes packaged with a detailed header card* that describes the mission and history of the U.S. Air Force.
