Description
No other aviation force has proven as powerful or as dominant as the U.S. Air Force over the past sixty years.
Tracing its roots to the Army Signal Corps, the U.S. Air Force was established as an independent arm of the U.S. Military in 1947 and has since amassed an unparalleled record of achievement and success. Operating as the world’s most modernized aviation force, the U.S. Air Force maintains nine major commands, each tailored to meet a specific mission and collectively positioned to confront any threat to America’s national security. Through command and control of the most advanced intelligence gathering, communications, and battlespace management technology available, Air Force personnel continue to meet every demand and conquer every challenge to America’s sovereignty, carrying on a tradition of excellence begun six decades ago.
