Description

Seek your sobriety every day and like the camel remember to fall to your knees twice a day. This pocket medallion help remind you that alcoholics succeed with sobriety by unloading our burdens on the higher power that can bear them. By surrendering to that higher power, helping fellow alcoholics do the same, and attending meetings regularly, you will maintain your abstinence and flee from binging.

The camel became a widely recognized symbol for AA through the Camel prayer, a poem popularized by Dr. Bob, one of the founders of AA. He later explained the prayer by describing how camels in a caravan would kneel down in the evening, and the men would unload their burdens. In the morning, the camels would kneel down again, and the men would put the burdens back on. “It’s the same with prayer,” Dr. Bob said. “We get on our knees to unload at night. And in the morning when we get on our knees again, God gives us just the load we are able to carry for that day.”

Minted in solid bronze with a shiny finish, the AA Camel coin is the perfect way to honor your sobriety, and the higher power that gives you only those burdens you can bear, in a physical, easy-to-carry way. The obverse features a handsome depiction of a dromedary camel in front of the AA symbol. The reverse features the classic AA Camel Prayer in its entirety:

“THE TASKS OF THE DAY CAN PASS WITH EASE WHEN A CAMEL OR I START ON OUR KNEES. ONE MASTER WE SERVE, THE CAMEL AND I, AND STAY FOR THAT DAY COMPLETELY DRY.”

Whether you are just dealing with your sobriety or using this coin as a daily reminder of your commitment years later, know that you can do it with the help of a higher power and the courage to change.
