The USAF Davis-Monthan Air Force Base coin salutes all of the noble ‘Air Warriors’ who train long and hard to be No.1 in Air Combat Command, always ready to deliver decisive firepower in close support of ground troops and to aid in combat Search and Rescue operations anywhere and everywhere in the world. Their combat record is exemplary.
Davis-Monthan is a key Air Command installation. The 355th Fighter Wing trains A-10 and OA-10 pilots for war and other contingencies worldwide, plus provides EC-130H aircraft and crew for airborne command and control operations wherever needed. The 355th Fighter Wing is the host unit providing operational prowess, and logistical and medical support to all assigned units.
This bold challenge coin proudly states “355th Fighter Wing—Davis-Monthan AFB, AZ.” It is a representation of the wing shield, in rich colors, over the banner “Our Might Always.” The reverse of the coin features the United States Air Force emblem in blue and white. The reverse bears the wing and star emblem of the new Air Force symbol is based on the familiar World War II “Hap” Arnold wings and represents the service’s heritage. The symbol’s modern design represents the Air Force’s present and future leading edge capabilities defending the United States.
Each coin measures 1 3/4 inch (44mm) in diameter.
